What's in Your Oatmeal?

Many of us are already aware of the potential dangers of using food that has been sprayed with glyphosate, but just in case you are not, here is a recent article. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/15/health/glyphosate-oat-products-ewg-study/index.html. Glyphosate is a weed killer, the active ingredient of Roundup. It has also been patented as an antibiotic, a descalant, and a mineral chelator. It affects how your microbiome as well as how your cells function. Glyphosate is also thought to be an endocrine disrupter. I think most of us would agree that we are seeing hormonal issues increasing by leaps and bounds.

Unfortunately, if you buy anything in a box or can that is not organic, eat out or eat anything that you haven’t prepared yourself, your food probably contains detectable levels of glyphosate because it is being sprayed on many crops, including grains, legumes, and even onions and potatoes. I think that all of us should be aware of the potential implications of ingesting these chemical products , especially those of of us with leaky gut disorder.

The Bible says that as we grow closer to God’s return that there will be increased famines and pestilences. While we live in seeming abundance, with the genetically modified foods, pesticides and hormones, those of us with gut permeability may be tempted to despair that we have so little to eat. But we are also told not to fear; the same God who created us has a plan for our lives.

With education and prayerful and intentional living, we can avoid these chemicals to a large degree. Be intentional about avoiding glyphosate and other chemicals by buying organic, growing your own produce as much as you can, and preparing your own foods. These precautions can spare you and your families of a lot of health issues and heartache.
